Lieutenant was informed today that if he gets a specific job, we won't be moving until April. With our living situation and funds right now, that means we can't get married until April, unless we get married and live apart which is stupid. That's the bad news. The good news is that we won't be heading straight to the north, in fact we will be on the west coast until September.
I have mixed feelings on it all. I love that we won't be headed straight to frosty hell from the get-go but I want to marry him already! I'm also sad because they pretty much crushed his dreams of being a pilot. The corrective eye surgery he had done didn't help him in that department, that's for sure. Lieutenant has wanted to be a pilot since he was about seven years old...I know he's disappointed and I know he's trying to hold it back from me and look at the bright side of things. I'm a pessimist, I know, I have a bad trait. I have issues finding the bright side and look right away at all the of "shit storms" as my dad would say.
Granted, living apart until April will increase our savings by a lot but I just don't know.
Some more good news: I had my second interview today for the fashion outlet. I am confident I will be getting a job, even if it isn't manager. Minimum wage is $8.25 an hour and since I don't pay rent, I'll be able to pay off my debts and save up money for our move and for furniture. That, and I haven't bought new clothing for myself in years now. I've gotten pieces here and there and even then, mostly from my older sister.
Are you PCSing soon? How are you coping? How do you not have an aneurysm from all the stress!?

We'll be PCSing in August. It is very stressful. My husband is actually in Korea until August so that's stressful too.
ReplyDeleteYou mean you won't be in the SNOWY (yes, it snowed today) tundra until almost a year from now?! I should mention that it was a pathetic version of snow tho. I don't remember if you mentioned this.. but why not just go to the courthouse and then plan a wedding! Plus, there are plenty of other jobs out there that pay more than 8.25/hr (e.g. any bank). And we're done... well, sorta. But at least we are calm currently. 120 on the waitlist! Booyah.
ReplyDeletePoor guy. :( My husband got the last job on his list when he got in. He thought he was going to get to defuse bombs and crazy stuff like that. Not so much. Sad for him...happy for me!
ReplyDeleteIt'll all work out, job, getting married, deciding on everything and anything that comes up. It just SEEMS like craziness now.
And hey, bright side is no snowy hell right?! BTW, that's the base I'm at too. So if you ever do get up here, you've got one more friend. :)
